Moving to Amsterdam, HELP!

Hello all-

I'm am American currently living in Buenos Aires, Argentina and am seriously considering relocating to Amsterdam in June with my boyfriend who has dual citizenship of France and Argentina. We will be staying for longer than 3 months, so will need a residency visa as neither of us have jobs lined up. i was told that he can apply for a residency visa quite easily since he has french citizenship, is this true? also, i was told that if we prove that we live together i would be able to apply for a residency visa through his. make sense? any truth to it? if you have any advice or maybe a website that could answer these more detailed questions please send any and all! I know I don't have to apply for a MVV since i'm from the u.s. but i do know that visas can take a substantial amount of time and I would like to get things started before it's too late.

Thanks!
