Moving to Nederlands As a highschool studen

I am Moving to the Nederlands soon after I finish my Freshmen year of highschool (grade 9). My mom, who was born in Holland, told me that i should enroll in a VWO highschool program, so i can go to a university. I know Dutch but it is very basic, like household phrases. When I go to the Nederland do i have do all six years or can i join the next school year during the time I'm living in holland.
