Seeking employment in netherlands with non-resident BSN number

Hi Everyone

I am a Portuguese-South African, currently residing in South Africa. I am planning on going to the Netherlands early next year to scope it out - and to potentially seek employment while I'm there.

Given that I'll only be there for a short period and I'll be staying in a hotel, is it necessary for me to obtain a BSN to apply for jobs? If it is necessary, can I simply apply for a non-resident BSN? I"ll be entering the country with my Portuguese (EU) passport.

Please also share any experiences you may have had, as an expat, when looking for employment in the Netherlands. Advice is welcome too.
