Advice on Job Offer in Netherlands

Hi folks,
I have received a job offer for a permanent role in NL. The package seems to be very good including relocation, shipping, temporary accommodation, etc and we are thinking of relocating from Singapore.

However, there's one thing that I am skeptical about. Though its a permanent role, what I have been offered is an initial contract of 1 year which will be converted to permanent contract later.

I have been informed that this is a norm in NL as the employer is bringing in someone from outside NL and they can't offer a permanent role with probation period straightaway in such scenarios.

Does anyone here have info on this or could throw some light?

Thanks
Devon
