Self Employed - Business Idea

Hello,

I am a British national currently working in the UK. Can speak English, Spanish and French (born and mostly educated in France).

I visited T&T several times over the last 15 years or so, that I now feel I would like to either:
1) Find a job there
2) Create my own business and be self-employed

For both options I understand that a work permit is needed.

Option1: Though this might be considered "safer" by finding employment and letting the prospective employer help with the work permit. But there are also downsides to this, e.g. dependent on finding a job, working on someones terms/pay etc.

Option2: I feel hugely excited by this as I have quite some plans to invest in my own skills and experience. I have a few ideas to choose from and for the moment I do not lack the resources to start them up. My Trini friends will also be on hand to guide, support and promote me.

Question for option 2:
- Are work permits issued for self-employed persons?
- Is there a certain business plan that will more likely be accepted/successful for work permit application. E.g. Organic agriculture vs. Specialised language secondary education vs. freelance teacher training & development (I have lots of experience in many areas - so flexible with my business idea).
- Is there a business/ministry/someone who can help advise on paperwork and process from company setup, taxes, legal etc?

Thank you!
