Natural Gas prices

Say guys-- My son that is presently staying in my home in Ukraine has said that the gas prices are horribly expensive--- The prices were high last year, but not for me living off the dollar. Tell me-- are they as outrageous as I'm hearing, and what is to be done about it? I do know that the USA has made some proposals to furnish gas to European countries at a MUCH lower rate than gazprom(russias gas monopoly) I also heard possibility of buying from some neighboring countries-- and pump backwards in the system. I'll be moving back before long, and would like to know. Thanks all, and do enjoy the NEW YEAR ! Bill
