So I was chatting with a good friend of mine that lives outside Odessa in a small fishing village (Vilkovo). We rarely discuss politics and I guess I know why now. She started going on the other day about how much better the economy was when they were friendly with Russia and how the war is senseless, men just dying for nothing.
She is an intelligent woman and her viewpoint on this really surprised me. I had always assumed she, and anyone in the Odessa area, would be anti-Russian and Odessa is next on Putin annexation list.
Am I wrong about this? I feel like this is mostly a product of Russian propaganda. Any other explanation? After the Holodomor is 1932 when Stalin starved to death 7 million Ukrainians, you;d think they would have gotten a clue. But after the F-Up at Chernobyl....that was what ignited the fall of the Soviet Union. How can they forge that? Nothing has changed in the way Russia treats Ukraine since them...their little lap dogs.
Am I missing something here?
