Canadian wanting to move to Dubai

My husband is currently working in Qatar and we are thinking of relocating from Canada to Dubai. We have 2 children, 11 & 8. I would be living there by myself with the kids for 3 weeks while he works offshore in Qatar then he comes home for 3 weeks. It would be so much easier for him to hop a plane to Dubai rather than the 16 hours home that he does now. I need some advice on safety (especially when we are alone), schooling (home schooling may be an option), neighborhoods to live in, can we rent a place furnished? A part of me thinks this would be an opportunity of a lifetime and another part of me is scared to death! Is the cost of living reasonable compared to Alberta, Canada? The tax system here is killing us and we would like to try to get ahead for a change. I would love any insight from anyone. Thanks so much!
