moving to Sharjah from India

18 years ago
I am 50+ and will be taking up a middle level engineering job at Sharjah with a monthly salary of around USD 5000. I have to arrange accomodation, food, local transport and all other expenses on my own except medical coverage which is by the company. This is the first time I am moving out of India as an expat. My wife will be joining me after a few months.
Is this salary decent enough to live reasonably well and save something for sending back ?
How is the life for a non muslim to live in an Islamic country.
Any puddles to look out for?
At the moment I feel like I am moving in a dark room with only anticipation on my side. Can someone guide me from darkness to light?
