How bad is the Abu Dhabi housing shortage?

One of my potential employers is offering a very good salary plus and accommodation allowance of 120,000/annually. The next best employment offer comes in 5000 dirhams/month BELOW that, but the contract provides an actual flat (not an allowance). I'm torn between the two. I'm hearing some pretty scary stuff about the Abu Dhabi housing shortage and soaring prices....any insight?
