Planning on becoming Xpat... need help

Hello, all!
I'm 22 from Illinois and a friend and I are very interested in moving to London next year for purposes of "broadening our cultural horizons". I'm just beginning to explore the ins and outs of making this dream a reality, so I'll definitely need some help from any of you that can offer it. We're planning on renting an apartment or flat and taking up employment while residing in London. Please let me know if you can help!
