Romantic or ridiculous?

My husband and I are attempting to gather opinions from anyone about whether or not it would be unwise for us to consider relocating to the UK from the US. We have one-year-old twins and aren't exactly financially comfortable, but for reasons both political and personal, we feel that we are falling out of love with the current American society and lifestyle. We realize that moving to London would be completely out of the question, but has anyone of moderate means made a rather successful transition? Would anyone highly recommend we give this some serious thought? We are both fairly introverted, so not being greeted by a welcome wagon wouldn't particularly offend us. Any thoughts?
