Advice: NYC to London

Seeking advice on areas to relocate in London. We are Canadian citizen living in NYC for about 10 years. We currently rent in the West Village of NYC and a weekend place in Woodstock NY. We also have a 6 year old, well behaved (Manhattan raised) golden retriever. We are in a 24 hr doorman (porter?) building with conceirge services.

Work location is in Canary Wharf and a good deal of air travel involved, therefore reasonable access Heathrow both important.

I've noticed a number of ex-nyc people here hopefully I provided a broad outlook on our lifestyles and they can advise on where to start looking.

Also, does one need a car? I have read parks are dog friendly, is this true?

Looking forward to moving to London.
