how hard is it to move to the UK?

My friend currently lives in the US. He is from Lebanon, so he's not a US citizen, but in the US on a work visa which was just renewed. His job is based in NYC, but they just opened an office in London, where they want him to move to. He has a visa for the Uk now, but it is only good for 6 months. I've heard that's its really diffucult to live and work in the UK. With all the visa requirements, how difficult will it be for him to move to the UK permanently?
