Moving to Greenwich..w/ kids

we are moving to blackheath in april with 3 kids- age 7, 4, and 1 yrs. we are looking for any information about schools, areas to live and not to, fun things to do with kids around there like tumbling classes, etc. we would like to go to british schools and avoid the american private schools. Is this unheard of? what is the british schedule? year round or semesters? any suggestions for schools in the area?
