Mid-West US to UK Costs

Hello all,

I am about to request a field assignment that would see my family and I (myself, wife and two kids not yet in school) relocate from Kansas City, MO to the UK in the Grimsby area which is about mid-coast on the east side of the UK, roughly a four hour drive north of London. My current mortgage is ~$1,000/month and I would retain this cost. My living allowance offer is for $4,700/month on top of my salary which will receive a 20% boost as well. My current situation finds this financially generous.

I've done some preliminary research with a letting company in the Brigg area about 15 miles west of Grimsby and have seen internet listings for furnished houses in the £600 to £800/month range. Can anyone tell me if this is a reasonable cost estimate for housing excluding utilities? My gut tells me, based on the exterior photos I've seen, that we would end up shopping in the £1,000/month range which would still fall well within my living allowance. What would be reasonable for furnished housing in (mostly) rural England? What could I expect for heating and water bills? Is broadband internet commonly available? Would £400/month be realistic for groceries (excluding eating out)? Can I rent a TV, DVD, etc? I'm not keen on the idea of buying a bunch of stuff and either having to sell it or ship it back when we're finished.
