My husband and I decided a few months ago that we wanted to move our two children to london to give them a more european experience, as it is a city that we love tremendously. Ha Ha! Easier said than done. He is a very well-educated and highly skilled man and we thought that it would be so easy, but we are finding that to be totally untrue. This has been a great learning process for us to say the least, yet we are undeterred. We happened upon the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme, and he fits the bill so we are going to try through that route. We have realized that without a work permit, our hopes are useless. He's had several companies inquire until they find out that he does not have the work permit. So, we've decided to do the work ahead of time. We have downloaded the 80 odd pages of forms and information. While it's laid out nicely, it is a large amount of information. The information has suggested that we could seek a consulting firm that is registered with their office, but there are tons to chose from. My questions are as follows: Is this program a good option? Do you recommend we go through a registered agents (a little extra money)? Or just try to manage this on our own? We now realize that this is a long process, and not to be taken lightly, but we also feel that many people are able to do it, so we at least want to give it a try.
We are still checking out the option of finding a company here in the states and transfering through that. We are trying through many channels. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
