Neighborhoods north of Heathrow?

We are considering relocating with a new baby. The job location would be just 7 or so miles north of Heathrow. There will be long hours involved, so we're trying to minimize commuting time. Are there any nice neighborhoods in the immediate area for a new, young, family? Also, we are budgeting about $3,000/mo for rent. Is that realistic? Thanks in advance!
