Leasing/buying a car

I'll be relocating to the UK in early January, and based on family needs and where we will live, it looks like we will want to have a car for the next year. What kind of experience have people had with this? We will likely be living just outside of the M25 (Gerrards Cross) and communiting into Uxbridge and the local schools. Is it better to lease or buy a car? How much should I budget if I'm interested in having a mini-van that will hold 3 kids. Any suggestions on places to lease from?
