Hi all,
I have read through a lot of the posts here, but am not finding guidance on "voluntary" moves from the U.S. to U.K.
I work for a New York-based investment bank, and am requesting a transfer to the company's London-based subsidiary. .I.e., the transfer is not initiated by the company, but by me. Therefore, I am not receiving an ex-pat package, but instead am being offered "assistance" with the move so I am do not end up being penalized for transfering.
Keeping in mind that I am single, in my mid-20s:
US salary:
114,500 dollars
Discretionary year-end bonus (last year was 70,000)
UK offer:
72,000 pounds
Discretionary year-end bonus
One time relocation bonus of 16000 pounds
One year tax advice/preparation for US and UK filings
One home-finding trip
Moving costs (flight, shipping,etc.)
I live a pretty comfortable life in NY, in manhattan, and would hope for a similar lifestyle in London (i.e, living in central london).
I would love/appreciate any advice on this. I want to move, but not necessarily to my financial detrement. If I have infact missed any posts on this, please just let me know where to look, otherwise, i would love some input!
Thanks so much, and happy new year all!
