Toronto to UK

Hi all,

I have been chosen to go over to the UK to start up/assist in building out a UK office for a small/medium software company.

I have received an expat package and I am having a very tough time trying to figure out if its sufficient.

I currently work in Toronto, Canada and my salary is 70K. I will be moving to the UK very soon, but I'm not sure if I want to live in Reading or London. I believe that I will be doing lots of work from home and therefore won't need to go to the office to much, which is located in reading. (London will be closer to my GFs workplace)

I will be paid in Canadian dollars with a COLA of 25%

I will receive, all figures in BPS:

1,500 housing/utilities
allowance

600 Transportation allowance

2000 Air / 4000 sea moving expenses there and back

a one time upfront payment of 2,500

an extra 2 weeks vacation annually

1 return trip annually

I am slightly concerned about the COLA and the home visits as they seem a bit light.

Would anyone be able to comment on the above package and the difference in cost for things like groceries, a night out @ the movies, etc.

I believe also that my company will be paying for phone (Home/Mobile) and broadbang, but i was wondering if i could get some estimates on those as well!

thanks in advance to anyone who replies.
