Considering a move to the UK (internal xfer) from SF bay area. The place of relo is in Surrey. The office is located in Richmond upon thames. I hope to live close, just as i do now here in california.
The move will essentially bump me up to a Director level role.... right now i am at a senior manager level. Here are some more facts:
1) Current salary: $140K USD + bonus.... overall say around $180k a year.
2) New Salary: 110k GBP + 30% bonus = 140k GBP
3) Married. One child who is 2 1/2 yrs old.
4) Own my home in California.... 4BR, 3BA, 2200 sq ft --- will rent out.
5) My wife works... and has makes about $70k per year.
6) 100% of the relo will be taken care of by the company.
7) Compensation will be in GBP
8) Dont expect wife to work in UK due to work permit issues.
9) Current day care for child costs us $1200 per month.
I am quite excited about the possibility of living and working in the UK but not sure if the economics will work for me.
I definitely am ok downsizing to say a 2BR apartment but not sure i want to really cringe on my std of living.
So please help and tell me how far would my comp go in the UK.
Thanks
Sam
