NYC to London

I will be moving from NYC to London in 6-8 weeks. I am planning to take about 30 small/medium boxes, a rug, a small sofa, and a race bike. Furniture is not necessary if it will lower the cost a lot. I am new to international moving and have taken some notes from previous posts on agents at destination, customs clearance, documents, and 'other' fees.

Can anybody recommend any particular reliable freight forwarding companies for such a move? Also, what cost should I be looking at? I am wondering if my budget of $1500 USD is too low or just right.

Just planning to take clothes, books, cookware, and documents.

Also, any suggestions of sites or links to get more basic information on freight forwarding would be great.
