HELP-moving to Shrewsbury/Shropshire w/ 3 little kids

Hello, I'm new to this forum and have scanned a couple of threads. I am impressed with the depth and thoughtfulness of responses to questions posted here.

I don't know where to begin nor what questions to ask, so please feel free to educate me based on our situation. I've traveled to Europe several times, but never in the UK.

My husband's job is relocating us to Shropshire, most likely Shrewsbury. We anticipate this being a 2-year long relocation and wish to keep our home in the US. His employer doesn't seem terribly well versed in international relocations, so we don't think the package will be thorough or adequate. (The HR manager said herself that they don't really do these moves... Uh-oh.) I've read the posting from the LA relocating to London, which was quite detailed and helpful. Aside from those points, are there any additional recommendations on components of a relo package for a smaller town in the UK?

We have 3 children, ages 2 months, 2 years and 4 years. I worked until we had our 3rd child, but I don't believe that I will be working while in the UK. My big questions are suggestions on rental property websites, recommended neighborhoods in Shrewsbury, and what should I expect socially in relocating my family. (I'm of Asian descent, and my husband is American, should I worry about racism for myself or our mixed children?) If I cannot enroll my older 2 in Montessori programs, is it difficult to hire an au pair?I'm quite a bit overwhelmed by all of the changes, so I don't know where to start. We're told that the process could start within the next month, so things are moving very rapidly.

I would greatly appreciate any websites, professional advice for my husband and household/family-related advice for me that you would have.
