Moving to Oxford

My husband and I are moving to Oxford in January. I'm looking for suggestions on moving company's and some suggestions on what to bring/not bring in the way of furniture and what not. It is a temporary research position of two years with a likely extension of a third. After that, who knows, we may be elsewhere in Europe, over to Asia or back to the States. I don't want to have to buy new household items every time, so while I am trying to get our stuff down to a minimum, I'm curious as to the feasibility of bringing certain electronic things and small appliances with us and just fitting the sockets with plug/voltage adapters. Anyone have experience with this?
