young family moving to manchester and need advice please?

Hey people,I am 24 with a girlfriend and a 6 month old son and we have decided next march or sooner to move to manchester from ireland.We are lost on how to go about this?as in how to get a house or apartment to live in,should we go over for a couple of days before we move over and organise accomadation or what way?How do we get our belongings over as in televisions,my sons toys,cots ect.?What areas in manchester are nice to live in that is reasonibly cheap and on the red side of manchester of course haha?I hope to hear from someone soon thanks!!
