Considering a move to Preston area.

I currently live in Florida and am thinking about a move to the Preston area as my two sons live there. They live with their mother and I want to be closer to them. I am not rushing the process as I want to be sure to fill all the requirements regarding employment and visa. I'm just not sure the best way to begin the process at this point. I've been to the UK several times so I don't see culture shock getting in the way. Any advice would be appreciated.
