Is this a realistic move?

I am an American Social Worker recruited to work for a coucil in London. I have been offered a little over 34,000 pounds for a two year commitment. They are offering 2000 pounds for relocation assistance and will cover the cost of getting registered to work. My question is, is it possible to survive on 2000 pounds for one month since I have to work for one month before getting paid. I am wondering if the move is really worth it given that I am an experienced worker in this field. I do not have any major expenses so the overhead would be low and I would not carry much besides the basics. Is this worth it and would I be able to save? What about housing options? Thanks for your input.
