Social Worker wants to move to UK

Hello -
I am a social worker, from the States, and am interested in moving to London (or closely surrounding area). So far, it seems that the only way to do this is through an agency (e.g.: UK Pro, etc). I am not wild about the tremendous bite they take out of my possible earnings and would like to know if there is any way to apply to jobs directly? I have applied for the GSCC, am getting a CRB, and am currently licensed as a Generalist Social Work (GSW) certificate and have a Master's in Social Work.
Any helpful sites or pointers that could assist me in finding jobs w/o going through an agency? Any specific organizations / clinics / hospitals that accept international social workers?

Any help or feedback is appreciated!! Thanks!
