Help - possible move to london

I have been offered a possible move to London and trying to decided if it makes sense. I will get $4000 in moving expenses, 1 month of temporary housing and be making about 55,000 (pounds) a year with potential for a bonus. I'm a single guy in my mid 30's who is ok with living a bit further out and living in a studio or a share. The other thing is I have US obligations of $1800 a month for at least the first year. Is this doable or will I be living in poverty?
