Job Offer in London, is it worth it?

Hi, I'm an American who has worked for a US based company in the D.C. area for two years. A position in my company opening up and I applied for it. The job is located just outside of Gatwick airport about 30-45 mins. south of London. I currently make about $47,000 py U.S. and my base salary offer is just under £35,000 p/y. They will help with relocation expenses so that's not a worry, and I will get a few thousand pounds on top of that for relocating, but there are no other strong benefits to speak of. No transportation subsidy or housing subsidy.
Based on anyone who has any experience in southern London, or West Sussex, is this enough? I've been told that the salary is non-negotiable. I don't need anything major, just a small flat share which is fine. I want to take this job for the experience, but if I'm struggling to make it, then it seems rather pointless. The only current obligation I have are student loans at I would estimate to be about £250-300 p/m.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
