work and life in UK?

hi all, im an aussie currently travelling europe. i need to work to continue travelling and am looking at spending a few months in UK from July. i have a UK passport but am searching for info about the liklihood of being able to get a job (can be bar work, cafe, cleaning, doesnt matter!) what the approx wage would be, prices for renting a room or do hostels do half board in exchange for some cleaning etc? any towns that you can recommend? my original plan was spain for the summer but the friend im travelling with didnt apply for a visa in time so it has to be UK. we looking for something lively for the summer but also as warm as possible!! any help or info would be so much help! jules
