Moving from DC to London - COL adjustment?

My husband may be transferred by his employer to London and we are trying to figure out what this would mean financially. We have both lived in London, as students, so know that we would like living in London, but not sure about expenses. We have 2 kids, 6 and 8 years old, and are looking into living in Richmond, where we have heard the schools are good. Any insight into how much a decent sized flat costs? I have looked alot online, but it is impossible to tell how big the places are. Any suggestions on what the COLA would be between DC and London/Richmond? TIA
