working OR living in Canada

hello folks,

just on the first step on consideration of a move to live ( 2 or 3 years ) and work in Canada. or maybe apply for citizenship if possible.

i am a graduate of nearly fifty years old, have a wife and three children under 10 years old.

in a past life i worked as an engineer and my wife as a nurse.

what are the first steps in order to apply to work in canada? we are british citizens born in uk.

is it better to apply to work first then citizenship? if appropriate?

are there any tests? language test keeps coming up but not sure what to do with this?

what are best employment agencies for access to jobs in canada?

anyone here done similar with positive and or negative results?

any information appreciated.

george
