Expired UK Spouse Visa

I'm really hoping someone can help me with this. I lived and worked in the UK with my husband for two years with a spouse visa. We had a daughter and decided to move back to the USA for help from my retired mother. My UK spouse visa expired after we had moved back to the USA so I never overstayed my visa in the UK.

That being said, with the current political climate in the USA, we do not feel we want to stay here for the long term. Can someone please provide me with any advice on if I can renew my expired spouse visa or if I would have to start the entire process over again? My husband is due to visit the UK nearer to the end of the year so could bring anything he needs to then if it's possible to renew it instead of go through the whole visa process again.
