Help with moving from USA to UK

Hi everyone my name is Heather , hope you are all well. I was looking for some advice from someone with experience with this stuff because it seems as if every question I search and research I get multiple answers from different sources. I have looked on every site I can find and with no clear answer we are both very frustrated.

So let me explain my situation , I live in the Uk and I was born here , my boyfriend lives in the USA and was born there. We have been together long distance for almost 2 years,we haven’t met yet but we are planning a visit for me to go there next year, we want him to move here permanently , he isn’t a skilled worker which excludes him from coming here on a work visa , I have researched spouse visa but got multiple answers , we are both working to save up to make this happen and we do plan to get married someday. What are the first steps we need to take for him to be able to live and work here permanently?
