Retire to Atlantida

I will be visiting UY in April for the first time. I'm not sure that I will want to live in the city. I enjoy the peace and serenity of a smaller community. Does anyone have any opinions about or experience with Atlantida?

Property seems to be cheaper than MTV and it's very close for easy access into MTV. I am looking for a retirement location and don't need excitement. Does it get very hot there? Can you rent an apt for $300/400 USD per month? Pros/cons over Piriapolis?
