Farmers markets / selling farm produce

I am looking to move to Uruguay within the next 18 months. I intend to buy a mixed farm / small holding to be semi self sufficient and maybe operate a small farm shop?

Is this something that is common in Uruguay? Are there regular farmers markets or similar in any of the larger cities where we could sell produce?
I am assuming that any livestock that we have can be taken to a meat plant for processing?

The farming enterprise will not be sole income as i will have income from external source and my wife is fluent in spanish.

Any suggestions / advice on this subject is appreciated.
