In light of recent posts where some people want to move to UY to farm and are so limited in cash that they are having trouble even finding a simple home to live because of the high cost of living, it begs the question why UY to farm???
The answer would help us newbies that are considering UY, among other countries, in our search.
I particularly are a city person and love a vibrant city with good night life so Montevideo and the Uruguayan culture attracts me enormously to the point I would accept the high cost of living.
But if I was interested in farming and own a large farm I would be attracted to countries like Ecuador where land is excellent and very inexpensive and the cost of living is such that, according to International Living, you can live there very well for around $800 a month everything included.
You also have the 3 climates: Pacific beaches climate, jungle/rainforest climate and eternal spring high elevation climate.
Expats are building houses very inexpensive specially if they are in a farm and want a simple home. I saw a 3 BR 2 bath apt in a high rise condo beachfront for $65,000 owned and sold by a local.
Just curious why farming expats are attracted to UY where the cost of required equipment, tools, Real Estate and cost of living are so high that seem to work against their main purpose.
