Rentals and Properties

I have an inquiry...

I have been looking on here and other sites for rentals and affordable(for us being under $50,000) properties for sale. We will have between $20k-$30 with us and I have no idea how the process of buying a house goes in Uruguay. By that I mean down payments, loans, interest. I have never bought a house in the U.S. so I am just clueless all around!

Is it possible to find a rental home outside of Montevideo that has 3 bedrooms for under USD $450 a month? We would like to live near the coast but are not set on any specific city.

We would really like to buy a small piece of land and put a yurt on it(if it doesn't already have a house) but we thought renting first might be a better idea. I have come across several small homes that have 2 or 3 bedrooms for between $250-$500 so that is encouraging. I am also not sure if we should find a rental before we leave or wait til we arrive and look at a few places. Any advice is welcome. And like I said, I have read several posts on here regarding renting and property buying but would love to hear your personal experiences.

Thank you!
