Hello Uruguay Expats!
Although this is my first post on the forum, I have been reading it for a few months now. Really appreciate everyones constructive attitude, by far the best and most helpful expat community i've ever seen online. I've been an expat in a couple of former British colonies.
I've been doing my research on Uruguay over the last year or so, and finally the time has come for my first visit to the country. It's now time to get eyes on the place, see if it feels like the right kind of place for my family.
I will be in the country for the first two weeks of March (from next week), to get a feel for the place and get some local insight. Hopefully to view a few properties too!
I'd like opinions and thoughts on what to look out for, where to go (and not to) and what to do to get a representative impression of the country.
The plan is to keep things open and flexible, so while i have a few things i'd like to do, nothing is set in stone at the moment. Honestly, not had much time to really plan the details of the trip, nor is it especially easy to do online as i'm sure you're all aware.
So any insight and advice anyone here can offer me would be most appreciated. Also, if anyone's up for having a drink and/or a meal to share some stories or advice of expat life in Uruguay, i'd really appreciate that.
This is not my first rodeo when it comes to being an expat, so i don't expect it all to be sunshine and smiles, the harsh reality is far more important. The reality is always different from the post-cards.
Thanks in advance.
Can't wait to finally get to Uruguay and get the transition started!
