New limits to land purchase by foreigners

The current Uruguayan Government is making noises about limiting real estate purchases by foreigners, such as possibly requiring 10 yrs residency to purchase, or capping those annual sales.
There is increased real estate pressure as the new "Residencia Fiscal" policy has opened the floodgates for Argentine investment in Uruguay. Prices are going up, which is not good for most Uruguayans who are hoping to afford a home. It also seems sad that people invest in Uruguay without ever coming here, their interest being strictly financial. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this.
