Your opinion about why you chose Uruguay

I am very interested in retiring overseas. I've looked at the requirements to retire in Portugal, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, and Uruguay. I'm not concerned about being able to fit in, as I have lived overseas for 45 years in third world and first world countries and adjusted well.

I am 75 years old, and from what I have researched, in the countries I've indicated above, I can enter into their national health care systems after being on private local insurance in the respective countries for a period of time.

I assume most of you who are retired overseas chose the country you are retired in for a specific reason. What motivated you to choose the country you are now retired in versus the others. Were you tempted to choose any other country? Were you retired in one country and moved to another country to retire?

Your response is appreciated. Visiting the countries is advised, but it would be great to have your opinions on what motivated you to retire where you did.

Thank you very much.
