Family with 2 young kids moving to Montevideo

Hi,
My husband, 2 daughters (2yrs old and a newborn) and I will be moving to Montevideo from Toronto (Canada) in the fall. Our oldest daughter will be attending the French Lycee in the Buceo area. We're looking at the Pocitos neighboorhood especially by the Rambla for housing but I was wondering if there are some other family friendly areas anyone would recommend. We won't have a car in the short term so we don't want to be too far from the school. We fear that Carrasco might be a little remote for now for that reason. We'd like to be close to the water in a safe and family friendly area where there are other kids and playgrounds. We like to go to little cafes, grab a bite out and go to fruits/veggies market, little bakeries, etc. but we're quiet people overall and we like to spend time as a family. Any other advice or recos for a young family would be super appreciated.
Thanks!
Marie
