Best way to job search in Ho Chi Minh City?

I recently moved to HCMC and am looking for a job teaching English here. I've been told there are plenty, and that I should just email my CV to every school I can find online. I've been steadily applying to places online for a couple of days (and have received no replies), but being in a new country, I feel too passive just sending out resumes and cover letters to prospective schools like VUS, Apollo, etc. Am I just being too nervous? Should I be going door-to-door in order to apply at different schools, or should I just continue to send out CV's and hound the schools I've applied to so they take notice? Leaving town isn't really possible, so any suggestions are welcome, and thank you in advance.
