Where to visit in the North of Viet Nam?

Hi dear,
I would lilke to travel around the North of Viet Nam. My friend suggest Ha Giang, Ba Be, Moc Chau, Mai Chau are new choice besides Ha LOng and Sa Pa. I like a motor tour to Ha Giang. Can you give me some advices cause I'm a girl. Should I travel by car or by motorbike?
