Need advice from TEFL teachers

So I answered an ad on Craigslist that offered teaching online through Skype. The recruiter asked for my passport and bank account info claiming that they needed to know in order to pay me. I told her I don't normally give up sensitive/private information that easily, especially when I haven't taken the job offer. My question is, how do you guys do it? For those of you who do interviews via Skype, 'what do you do when they asked for your passport and bank account?' This seems like a Nigerian scam to me.
