Internship Opportunity in Nagarote, Leon - Nicaragua

The Right to Learn is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the disadvantaged children of Nagarote, Nicaragua with a free, Montessori education. The Right to Learn accomplishes this mission primarily through its funding of School of Louise’s Dreams, where over 200 pre-elementary and elementary students are provided with everything they need to effectively receive an education. The Right to Learn is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an Internship with our established international non-governmental organization, working on the areas of access to education, sustainable development, and positive youth development. You will be able to work for a minimum of 6 weeks, assisting with on base operation in Nagarote, Nicaragua, while simultaneously offering direct program support to our US based staff.

The Fall Intern position offers a great deal of opportunity for exercising and developing a wide array of skills:

Primary responsibilities of the Fall Intern include:
1.Implementing new teaching methodologies and techniques that will help the students as well as teachers
2.Expand the staff members’ knowledge of Montessori methodology and practice
3.Developing the Montessori curriculum with the staff
4.Helping the staff create school materials
5.Assisting the teachers with classroom activities
6.Community outreach and communication

Proposed work schedule: The Fall Intern is expected to commit a minimum of six weeks to working at School of Louise’s Dreams in Nagarote, Nicaragua. While there, the Intern is expected to assist the staff during school hours, from approximately 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, with an hour break between 12:00 and 1:00.

Compensation: There is no monetary compensation for the Fall Internship position at this time.

Accommodations: The staff at School of Louise’s Dreams will provide accommodations at their homes. The Fall Intern is required to pay for their food and lodging expenses, which are approximately $80 per week.

Qualifications:
?Must be at least 18 years old
?Experience or education in the area of education (ideally the Montessori Method)
?Has experience traveling and/or working in a developing country
?Moderate to high level of Spanish language competency
?Independent self starter
?Strong interest in international non-profit work, education, and/or social equality
