Satellite Internet in Rural NW Nicaragua

We currently have satellite internet through Nicanet based out of Granada. It is EXPENSIVE - close to $500 a month (yes, that's in Dollars). We don't have cell phone service here (we get Movistar through an antennae and Claro on a clear day), and we're looking for an alternative to Nicanet. I was thinking that, given our location, maybe El Salvador would work with a cell phone, but I don't know much about it. We've lived here for 5 years and have missed much of the "learning curve" with smartphones, tablets, and other cool stuff. For clarity, we are located near the Volcano Cosiguina, on the Pacific Ocean side.
