Residency, the Truth is:

Being a Businessman all my life I thought I knew the ropes, and I did, according to traditional American values.
NEW game in Nicaragua and I did get an education in working my way through this process.
On March 1st I presented a perfectly prepared set of paperwork to the Lawyer that I had hired in Granada. All the required items had been translated and stamped at the Nica Consulate in Miami and I thought it would be a piece of cake running these perfect documents through the system and surely would receive my Cedula in a matter of a few weeks.
WRONG....I finally got my Cedula on August 8...A period of 5 months and 1 week.
This is my guess on what really went down...I think that the application went in the lawyer's "in" basket and stayed there for ,God knows, how long.....I have no idea why...... haven't figured that out yet.... I do know that there was some delay at immigration because I personally witnessed it...The delay was from July 24 until August 8 when they finally came through.
Here' s the truth that I think I learned.....Get your papers in order before you leave the states....then ....forget the lawyer..What you need is someone that knows how to expedite things, Won't lie to you, and will charge you a reasonable price....I hesitate to recommend , But I'm going to do that because it might help someone cut through all the BS and have an easier time than I did. He's a very efficient young man that knows how to get things done, is honest, and won't lie to you...Name... Rafael Vanegas Phone is 8460-7861..Email [email protected]
